SC Law requires golf carts on public roads be driven by
licensed drivers, be registered with the Department of Motor
Vehicles, and be covered by liability insurance.  The
insurance requirement for a golf cart is the same as for any
other motor vehicle.  Golf cart insurance is very inexpensive.  
However, the penalty for a 1st offense conviction for driving
an uninsured golf cart includes a mandatory six month
suspension of the driver's license and SR-22 insurance for
three years after conviction, plus a fine, court costs, and
possibly jail.  Protect yourself by carrying at least the minimum
insurance on your golf cart required by law.

Golf carts may only be operated during daylight hours,
regardless of whether the cart has lights or not.
